Today we had four people give their chapter summaries. Hopefully the discussions were helpful. I have posted the essay on the assignments tab. I decided to go with a regular ol' essay not a guided paragraph.

We had a brief that turned into a long lesson on symbolism. Then we heard from our group leaders in the literacy circles. Keep reading and prepping for the day's chapters.
Today we had a brief lesson on the structure of Pi and how this helps us understand the story and themes. Tomorrow is the authors visit and then back to work on Wednesday. Please come prepared for the discussion by having read the chapters assigned. Make some notes and ask some questions.

We are done with Part 1 of the novel and are moving on to Part 2 next week. Keep reading and taking notes as you go. Good luck with your journals. They are due on Thursday!! Thank you to those who met the deadline today. To those who didn't just remember it is 5% per day for 5 days and then up to 50%. Remember to show me your finished rough draft ASAP so you don't lose marks.

We took up the two compare and contrast essays today: A Fable for Tomorrow and Columbus and the Moon. The weekend should be spent prepping for your essay. Have a great one!
Today we went over a very dry concept about sentences but hopefully it will help with our writing style. The hand out unfortunately was on the photocopier waiting for me but I was looking on my desk. So...check assignments and you will find the hand out for tomorrows lesson. Thanks!!
We finished today looking at the Marc Lapine essay. Next week we will continue on with Compare Contrast essays.
