Tonight we are reading "Killing Machines" and looking at identifying some of the content: thesis and argument: ethos, logos & pathos. We are also looking at style: tone, sentence structure and literary devices. As you read highlight and make note of these elements. Good luck!

Thank you to those who responded to the prompt. The more engaged in the course you are the better you will do. I look forward to seeing you next week! Right now, by the way, I am reading 3 novels: Magyk, Oryx and Crake and A Discovery of Witches all are keeping my interest so far.
If you were absent today please read and annotate "Arming the Spirit" by George Faludy found on the course reading tab. Thanks to all who have submitted a comment already. Terrific. I would love to hear about other fantasy books you may have read other than the hobbit :) Anyway, when commenting please do not include your email address. I think it would be better to keep those private. I made the mistake myself on my post but can't remove it until I take down the whole post. Just unclick the email box when commenting. Have a great night!
What do you like to read? Why?
Looking forward to meeting my new students . The first day is always exciting!!
With everyone's essay handed in. We are now looking forward to presentations and exam review.
The ISU typed rough draft is due on Thursday. Over the holidays you should consider spending a bit of time thinking and preparing for the seminars that begin on January 10th. The final draft of the essay is due on Tuesday January 7th. Check the ISU tab under "more" on our website for information about the seminar and rubrics etc...All the best to you...
We have a few work period days to get a better understanding of the Author's life and times. You have to do a significant amount of research to figure out what had the greatest influence on your author or to decide if your author was a "trail blazer" who had a great influence on their times.. Research notes are due Wednesday December 11th 2013.
Please remember if you are sick or miss a day that it is your responsibility to come in at lunch to make up time.
